Volunteering in the field

COAM cannot offer any financial compensation to our volunteers however the following grants and scholarships are available:

Online volunteering

Everyone can make a difference. Share your skills, knowledge and ideas -from a computer anywhere in the world. Volunteering with us will give you an opportunity to contribute to sustainable human development, develop knowledge and skills, expand networks and work in a multicultural environment.

Design of logos, posters and fliers for Bamyans’ new environmental center.

We are looking for someone to design a colourful and creative design for the new Bamyan Environmental center. We are looking for something the catches the regional character as well as COAM’s mission of sustainability and conservation.

COAM will give initial creative freedom to the designer but offer help and advise if needed and if improvements are necessary.

Requirements (Number of volunteers required: 1)

  • Good volunteer spirit
  • Flexible time and good internet access
    Computer and design software
  • Previous experience in design. Please include samples of previous design work with your application.
  • Languages:  English and Dari preferable.
  • Hours per week: 1-5
  • Duration of weeks: 3

Newsletter design and compilation

The task consists in creating a new template for our monthly newsletter and gathering project updates from project/team leaders on a regular basis for the newsletter. Collaboration will be organized primarily via email and skype. Volunteers will be given their own creative freedom while still somewhat maintaing COAM’s branding and appearance (Number of volunteers required: 2)

  • Languages:  English and Dari preferable.
  • Hours per week: 1-5
  • Duration of weeks: 52

Develop fundraising strategies and write grant proposals

We are looking for expert fund raisers to advise us on fundraising strategies as well persons well versed with making projects and or writing applications for grants to help us carry on our work. Volunteers will also need to help us identify potential funding organisations who are willing to support our various projects fully or partially depending on their capacity. COAM will provide all the needed information to the volunteers through email contact. We shall communicate with the volunteers online, through social media like face book and skype and if need arises we shall also communicate through telephone calls.

Volunteers will not submit the funding request on behalf of COAM.

Requirements (Number of volunteers required: 4)

  • skills and experience in project planning
  • proposal writing and fundraising knowledge (related to environment, sustainable development, gender, disaster risk reduction and sustainable income generating activities that are rural based)
  • Languages:  English and Dari preferable.
  • Hours per week: 6-10
  • Duration of weeks: 12

Translation from English to Dari

COAM is looking for volunteers as soon as possible to help with translation from english to dari of a range of documents from brochures to policies. Depending on the interest and experience of the volunteer we have a document for you.

  • Number of volunteers required: 4
  • Languages:  English and Dari preferable.
  • Hours per week: 5-10
  • Duration of weeks: 12
